Narayanpur Mourns Braveheart Constable Satter Singh, Martyred in Anti-Naxal Operation

NarayanPur Bastar 19 July/ Narayanpur witnessed an outpouring of grief as the body of Constable Satter Singh, who was martyred during an anti-naxal operation in Bijapur, was brought back to his home district. The news of his sacrifice plunged his native village, Bamhni, into deep sorrow.Hundreds of villagers from Bamhni and surrounding areas thronged the village to pay their last respects to the fallen soldier. Eminent citizens, along with top police officials and district administration representatives, offered emotional tributes to Constable Singh.The atmosphere turned heavy with grief as the soldier’s pyre was lit for cremation. Women cried inconsolably, while children offered flowers and raised slogans honoring his bravery.Constable Singh, a resident of Bamhni village, was one of two STF jawans who lost their lives in an IED blast on July 17th in the jungles of Mandimarka, Thana Tarrem area. The incident also left four other jawans injured. Narayanpur Collector Bipin Manjhi and Superintendent of Police Shankar Baghel were present in Bamhni to pay homage to the martyr.

Adding to the tragedy, Collector Manjhi informed that Constable Singh’s parents had passed away during his childhood. Raised and educated by his uncle, he lived with his brother and was due to get married in a few days. This incident has left his entire family devastated.

Four Injured in IED Blast During Anti-Maoist Operation

Following intelligence reports about the presence of Maoists in the border region between Bijapur, Dantewada, and Sukma districts, a joint operation was launched on July 16th, 2024, involving teams from STF, DRG, Cobra, and CRPF from the respective districts.

Tragedy struck on July 17th during this operation when an IED explosion ripped through the forces in the forests of Mandimarka, Thana Tarrem area, at around 10 pm. Two STF jawans, Constable Satter Singh from village Bamhni, Bakulwahi of Narayanpur district, and Constable Bharat Lal Sahu from Lakshminagar Mowa, Raipur district, were martyred in the blast.

The incident also left four other jawans injured – Head Constable Purushottam Nag, Constable Sanjay Mandavi, Constable Komal Yadav, and Constable Siyaram Shori. Thankfully, reports indicate that their condition is stable and they are receiving proper medical treatment.
